Child Care Rebate payments on the horizon for families

Over a quarter of a million families will soon receive their Quarterly Child Care Rebate payments.

The payment, delivered by the Department of Human Services, will reimburse around 275,000 families for part of their out-of-pocket child care fees.

Department of Human Services General Manager Hank Jongen said the quarterly payments covering July to September 2015 will be paid automatically to eligible families from 21 October.

“Eligible families who have elected to receive the Child Care Rebate payment quarterly don’t need to do anything, as the rebate will be automatically paid into their bank account,” Mr Jongen said.

“Child Care Rebate delivers extra help for eligible families with the cost of approved child care – reimbursing parents up to 50% of their out-of-pocket expenses, up to $7,500 per child, per year.”

Mr Jongen noted that families have the flexibility to choose the frequency of their payment before the start of each financial year.

“Family life can be complex and busy, so it is important that we provide several options to manage the family budget,” Mr Jongen said.
